I provide virtual couples and relationship therapy to adult partners residing in South Carolina and North Carolina.
Who I Help
I help committed couples and partners who feel stuck in repeating relational cycles — such as ongoing conflict, emotional distance, shutdown, or unresolved tension — understand what is happening between them and build more intentional, sustainable ways of relating.
Many couples I work with are thoughtful, capable people who care deeply about their relationship but feel discouraged by repeated arguments, mounting stress, or increasing disconnection. Some have relocated to South Carolina or North Carolina and are navigating relationship strain with fewer local supports. Others are managing parenting demands, trust repair, or the relational impact of ADHD, anxiety, or burnout.
This work focuses on patterns between partners — not blame or pathology.
Common Relationship Concerns I Work With
Couples often seek therapy for:
Repetitive arguments that never resolve
Communication breakdowns or defensiveness
Emotional distance or loss of intimacy
Parenting stress affecting the partnership
Mismatched expectations or responsibilities
Trust injuries, including efforts to repair after betrayal
Relationship strain influenced by ADHD, anxiety, or burnout
Stress related to relocation, work, or life transitions
When Couples Therapy With Me Is a Strong Fit
This work may be a strong fit if you and your partner:
Care about your relationship but feel stuck
Want support that feels thoughtful, respectful, and structured
Are open to understanding patterns rather than assigning blame
Prefer therapy that is warm, direct, collaborative, and honest
Are willing to practice new ways of relating between sessions
Couples therapy works best when both partners are willing to participate, even if readiness is uneven at the start.
When My Practice Is Not the Right Fit
My practice may not be appropriate if:
There is active intimate partner violence or coercive control
One partner is unwilling to participate in the process
There is an ongoing affair with no intention to pause outside involvement
Therapy is being sought primarily for court-mandated or legal purposes
One or both partners are in crisis requiring emergency or intensive services
I do not provide crisis or emergency services. If there are immediate safety concerns, please contact 911 or local emergency resources.
My Approach to Couples & Relational Therapy
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my work is grounded in systemic and relational therapy. I integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies within this framework when skills-based work is helpful.
Rather than focusing on individual fault or pathology, we work to understand:
How interaction cycles develop (pursue/withdraw, criticize/shutdown, etc.)
How stress, expectations, and past experiences shape reactions
How ADHD or anxiety patterns may affect relational dynamics
How each partner’s nervous system responds under pressure
From there, we build clearer, more intentional ways of responding that support connection, accountability, and mutual respect.
Clients often describe my style as warm, direct, collaborative, honest, systemic, and skills-focused when warranted.
Experience & Perspective
With over 35 years of experience as a licensed therapist, I bring a steady, grounded presence to emotionally charged conversations.
Many couples describe therapy as feeling more manageable and less adversarial than expected, allowing space for clarity, repair, and more intentional connection.
